Whats Included in a Home Sale
In a home sale, anything that’s attached to the house usually stays. Think of stuff like:
- Built-in appliances (e.g., ovens, dishwashers)
- Light fixtures
- Plumbing fixtures (e.g., faucets, sinks)
- Cabinets and countertops
- Wall-to-wall carpeting
- Curtain rods and blinds
- Landscaping elements (e.g., trees, shrubs)
If there’s something you want to take with you, let’s make sure it’s clear in the listing and in your contract so there are no surprises.
Handling Furniture and Loose Items:
For furniture and other loose items, you’ve got a few options:
- Plan Ahead: If you want to keep any furniture or items, go ahead and start moving them out before listing. It helps buyers imagine their own stuff in the space.
- Deal: You can also negotiate if you’re open to leaving some pieces behind. Just make sure whatever you decide is in writing.
- Staging: If your home is staged, clarify what’s part of the deal and what’s just for show.
By planning ahead and clearly defining what will remain with the house and what will not, you’ll facilitate a smoother transaction process.
